The wedding ceremony
is over; the tide is changing,
after bringing in
some new or once hidden treasures,
which we leave
behind to taste reception pleasures,
celebrating a time
of rings and promises exchanging.
Soon both of you'll
return to times of changing tide,
high and low, in
your daily life of working and caring
for clients, family,
each other; building and repairing,
like the ocean on
the beach with your currents to ride.
We guests have
pledged to help your promises to keep,
reminding you that
we need holy strength to keep seeing
hope shimmering in
sacred space between you, freeing
us to believe that
love can make a difference so deep.
Our prayers, gifts
and love remain; reminding you now
to treat each other
not as a “you” but as beloved “Thou”!
